reading about the rolling stones keeps them on top of your thoughts .. on saturday i went into town , as the weather was crap and i couldn’t go on a planed fishing trip to lake waikaremona , and hit the local second-hand record shop.. i must at this time say that it is one of ,if not possibly, the best record shop in the country.. so i went through the stones bin and came up with two goodies the first was “sticky fingers” and the second was a bit of a score , it is my favorite stones album , “some girls” and the cover is the first uncensored one … for those who don’t know the cover has photos of celebs on it and they ( lucille ball , farrah fawcett , liza minnelli representing her mother judy garland , raquel welch , the estate of marilyn monroe ) threatened legal action so the second cover was censored… the music is still the same .. so saturday arvo was spent listening to some cool sounds……………………
i was given Keith Richards new book “Life” for christmas and i am enjoying it… it gives a different spin on the urban myths that have surrounded the stones … i have been a big stones fan since i was a teenager and first heard ” Black and Blue ” … the stones have only been to new zealand a few times and i have seen them twice, the first time they were here i was 5 years old the last time i was 46 ..the last time they were here i decided to get as close to them as i could , in this day and age that means spending money, $480 NZD and i was up front .. this pirce was worth while as Ronny Woods looked down at me ,smiled , and flicked me his guitar pic…. if you like rock music or playing the guitar this book is a must read.. of all the rock bio’s that i have read i rate this as the best….
well it’s been a while since my last blog … many things have happened but i’ll comment on them later , maybe … i have been working hard and have not had time to do all the things that i would have liked to have done.. today i had a day off so i went to find some more music , i have been buying vinyl again , to add to my collection… i got three more records clapton ,madonna and , what self-respecting vinyl collection would not have this one , simon and garfunkel live in central park.. i’ll leave it here as i am off to listen to some music…..
you don’t kill a cow just for the leather or a rabbit for a fur coat … so try this ……
1 rabbit jointed into 8 pieces
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion finely chopped
1 stick celery finely diced
2 cloves garlic sliced
2 sprigs rosemary chopped
1 bay leaf
1 hand full green olives
250 ml white wine
300-500 ml chicken stock
heat oven to 180c /brown rabbit on med-high in an oven proof casserole pan and then set aside … reduce heat and cook onion and celery untill soft … return rabbit to the pan and stir in the bay leaf / zest and lemon juice / olives / wine and enough stock to cover then season with salt / pepper … bring to a simmer then put lid on and place in oven for 1 1/2 hours … remove from oven and place on the stove without the lid and simmer untill the sauce thickens slightly …
NB : you can replace the rabbit with chinchilla or mink
i hope you enjoy this as much as you do your fur coat ……..
